How to fit a strapless bra
The bra does half the job. Getting the size right does the other half. With no straps to lean on, the band matters more than usual, so it pays to check the fit properly.
- Find your band size. Wrap a soft tape around your ribcage, just under the bust. Keep it flat and snug. That measurement in inches is your starting band.
- Do the swoop and scoop. Once it is on, reach into each cup and gently bring all the breast tissue forward into the cup. This is the only way to see the true fit.
- Check for overflow or digging. Any spilling over the top or wires cutting in means you need a bigger cup. The cup should hold everything with a smooth edge.
- Test the band. On the loosest hook, you should just slide two fingers under the band and no more. A loose band is the number one reason a strapless bra slides down.
- Consider a band down, a cup up. Because the band does all the work, many people find a snugger band and a fuller cup keeps a strapless bra in place better than their usual size.
