Freya Bras Review: Here’s What You Need To Know

A fuller-bust brand review

Freya bras: the support-and-style verdict

Whether Freya will fit you, which style suits your shape, and where it is worth your money. Written by a fuller-bust specialist, not a brand.

Freya Offbeat plunge bra in black lace with pink straps, a fuller-bust style

If you have a fuller bust, you already know the usual deal. A bra can be supportive or it can be pretty, and far too rarely both. You end up with a drawer split between bras that hold you up and bras you actually like, and almost nothing that does the two jobs at once.

Freya is one of the few brands that refuses that trade-off, which is why it comes up so often once you go past a D cup. This guide is the fitter's view of it: what Freya does well, where it falls short, how it sizes, and which style to reach for based on your shape rather than guesswork.

The short version

The verdict at a glance

If you read nothing else, read this.

  • What Freya does best. Proper lift and support paired with styling you would choose for its own sake, across a wide fuller-bust size span.
  • Sizing in one line. Bands run slightly stretchy, so if you are between band sizes, try the smaller band first. Start at your usual size and adjust from there.
  • Choose by shape. Projected or narrow-set shapes suit plunges and side-support styles like Offbeat and Fancies. Shallow or wider-set shapes suit moulded styles like the Deco.
  • Where it is less ideal. The moulded Deco is fairly shallow and can spill on a very projected shape, so it is not the one to start with if that is you.
  • The safety net. Free returns and exchanges mean the right size is a swap away, not a gamble.

Are Freya bras any good? The fitter's verdict

Yes, with one or two caveats worth knowing before you buy. Freya bras are hand-finished and built to hold their shape, so a well-fitting Freya tends to stay supportive wash after wash rather than going soft and bobbled inside a season. The lift is strong, the size span is wide, and the styling goes well beyond the plain and practical, which is the whole reason fuller-bust customers keep coming back to it.

The caveats are about fit, not quality. Freya bands have a little more give than a brand like Panache, so some people find their usual band a touch loose and size down. And because the cup shape changes a lot between styles, the model matters as much as the size. Get those two things right and Freya is one of the safest fuller-bust brands to recommend.

How Freya fits, and how to size it

Freya uses standard UK band and cup sizing and runs a wide span, from a 28 back up to a 44, with cups well past a G into H, HH, J and K depending on the style. So your size is very likely here, including the fuller cups that other brands stop short of.

Two things decide a good Freya fit: a band that is snug rather than loose, and a style matched to your shape. Get those right and the size mostly takes care of itself.

First, the bands have a little stretch, so if you are between band sizes or your current band rides up, try the size down. Second, cup fit varies by style rather than running uniformly large or small, which is why the next section matches styles to shapes. If you are new to fuller-bust sizing or it has been a while since you were measured, start with our bra size calculator and the fitting guide, then order your closest size knowing a different size is a free exchange away.

Which Freya style suits your shape

The single biggest reason a Freya feels wrong is the style, not the size. Breast shape, not just volume, decides which cup works. Answer the two questions below and the picker will point you at the right starting style.

Which Freya style suits your shape? Two quick questions. No measuring needed.

1. When you lean forward, your breasts feel…

2. Your breasts sit…

Pick an answer to each question and your best Freya starting style appears here.

The Freya line-up, style by style

Once you know roughly which shape you are, here is where each Freya style earns its place, and who it suits.

Freya Fancies balcony bra in black lace Balcony

Balcony

Lift and a rounded shape with enough coverage for everyday, while still sitting low enough for an open neckline. A good first Freya if you want shape without going as low as a plunge.

Best for: an even shape, and anyone who wants shape with a bit of coverage.

Freya Fancies plunge bra in black lace Plunge & side-support

Plunge and side-support

The Freya sweet spot for a projected or narrow-set shape. Side-support panels bring the shape forward and centre it, the lower front works under almost anything, and these are the styles fitters reach for most in fuller cups.

Best for: a projected or narrow-set shape that wants lift and a low front.

Freya Deco moulded T-shirt bra in nude Moulded

Moulded and the Deco

A smooth, seam-free cup that sits invisibly under close-fitting clothes and suits a shallower or wider-set shape. Worth knowing the Deco cup is on the shallow side, so a very projected shape may prefer a side-support plunge instead.

Best for: a shallow or wider-set shape, and anything close-fitting.

Freya Active Sonic moulded sports bra in black with floral print straps Sport

Sport (Freya Active)

Proper impact support in fuller cups, which is hard to find. Worth checking the sizing note per style, as some Active styles size a band down and a cup up from your everyday size.

Best for: medium to high-impact exercise in a fuller cup.

StraplessStrapless bras have a poor reputation for sliding down, and the Freya Deco Strapless is the exception fitters trust, with moulded cups and a grippy band that stays put through an event.See strapless →
BralettesSoft, wireless and pretty for lounging or lower-support days, without the plain look wireless usually means.See bralettes →
Maternity & nursingFlexi-wire support and easy nursing clips, made for the size your body lands on through pregnancy and feeding rather than forcing you into a plain non-wired shape.See nursing & maternity →

Will it last, and is it worth it?

A Freya costs more than a high-street three-pack, and the reason shows over time. The hand-finished construction holds its shape, the wires stay where they should, and the fabric does not go slack after a few washes, so one bra that fits and lasts a couple of years works out kinder than replacing cheaper ones that never quite fit. Wash on a cool gentle cycle in a lingerie bag and rotate between two or three, and a Freya earns its place.

Freya bras: your questions answered

Do Freya bras run small or large?

The bands run slightly stretchy, so many people size the band down. Cups vary by style rather than running uniformly large or small, so start at your usual size and adjust.

Are Freya bras true to size?

Broadly yes on the cup, with the band on the looser side. If your current band rides up, try the size down.

Is Freya good for a fuller bust?

It is one of the strongest fuller-bust brands, with support and styling that hold up well past a G cup.

Which Freya bra is best for everyday?

A balcony or a moulded T-shirt style for most people, or a side-support plunge if you have a projected shape. Comfort and your usual necklines decide it.

Freya or Panache, which should I choose?

Panache bands run firmer and Freya bands a touch stretchier, so between the two it often comes down to whether you prefer a firmer or softer band and which cup shape suits you.

How do I keep a Freya bra in shape?

Cool gentle wash in a lingerie bag, dry flat, and rotate between a few rather than wearing one daily.

Support and style, without the trade-off

You should not have to choose between a bra that holds you up and one you like wearing. Freya is one of the few brands that lets you have both, and the only thing standing between you and the right one is getting the size and style matched to you.

If you want a hand with that, our fitting team is on email and live chat, and every order comes with free returns so a different size is a simple swap.
